Walking Magic Numbers


10,000 steps?  5 miles?  30 minutes a day?

What is the magic number for walking, to gain optimal health?

Distance and time are important, but walking should also be brisk with higher pace.  There is a plethora of blogs and doctor's opinions on walking for health, experts tend to agree, your goal for walking should be:

  • Doable
  • Easy to remember
  • Enough to push yourself to an achievable goal

Fitness bands and wearable computing has made calculating steps and distance easier to do.  But maybe, simply picking a destination, like a place, park, or top of a hill, are the easiest ways to achieve walking goals.  30 minutes a day of brisk walking is a excellent start.
